We had a cherry tree in our yard when I was growing up. I'd get upset with my brothers for shaking the flowers down because I thought the lack of flowers would mean we'd get no cherries. Of course, I don't recall us ever getting a significant amount of cherries before the birds cleaned off the tree anyway.
The cycle of seed to plant to flowers, fruit and seed again is amazing, though.

When I was a lad, at the bottom of our garden was a little orchard with
three apple, two pear and plum trees. My mum would make jams, chutneys
& preserves from the harvest of fruit & veg.
My Gramp kept bees, so I learned about pollination from an early age

We had three oak trees, and the cheery tree. And a little veggie garden. My mom told me that I used to sneak into the garden and eat the tomatoes while they were still green.

My parents had a very large vegetable garden, apart from the orchard, and I was always down there helping my dad with the digging, sowing, planting & harvesting. When I was sent to get some brussel sprouts it was usually one for the pan, one for me
