I had seen this lad get on the bus in the pouring rain, get to his seat and put both his feet up on the opposite seats. I was just about to take a shot when a lady sat down in front of me. Later, when it came to my stop, the lady also got up & began walking down the bus. As the bus was coming to the stop I took the shot as I stood up, the camera resting on the seat directly in front of me.
The chastisement of children was banned in the UK, in the '80s, so what do you expect. At the time of the ban, I wrote an article on Primate Social Structures, explaining that All primates chastise their young, and with the ban, to expect in 20-30yrs problems with youth crime on the rise & behaviour well below par. Folks said I was a fool. There is a saying, "He who laughs last, laughs longest."
The really worrying thing is, it used to be that you could blame totally self-centered, rude or criminal behaviour to a difficult childhood. In fact, this kid may well have a decent school, his daily bread and loving parents, who believe that children should be 'encouraged', that children should get applause for just anything they do, no matter how trivial, and should never get the idea that they're not the centre of the universe. But they'll be none the happier for it, quite the contrary.
At later age, they'll accept no correction for bad behaviour, no matter how justified and not even from the law. They'll place cameras in emergency hospital wards for some reality show, they'll gamble with the money of pensioners or social housing estates and if criticized, they'll tell you that they have protocol for it and that everything is okay. Or they just stare at you with glazed eyes not knowing what you're talking about. It's what I see happening around me and when I open any newspaper.
Thanks a lot for the favour, m'deer
Do you know in what a circumcision consists?...
The cutting away of the foreskin
