Ten Feet From Door by EarthHart Ten Feet From Door by EarthHart
I was in the grounds of the Bishop's Palace, when I heard sirens all over the place, then later saw the Air Ambulance fly over & land on Cathedral Green, so I strolled over to see what the shout was about.

At around 12 noon today, a tourist on the High Places tour in the Cathedral, fell some 30ft & became trapped in a 'void' in a wall. A specialist Doctor abseiled down to her, and stabilized her. Then came the problem of getting her out. The only way was to call in the RAF SAR Sea King helicopter, and winch her off the Main Tower. The lady has no life threatening injuries, and was flown to a hospital in Bristol, where she's being treated for broken wrists & a suspect pelvic fracture. The whole operation took some three hours.

Sadly not. If the lady had fell 2ft further along from where she fell, she would have fallen 140ft to her death. One very luck woman.

I just checked it out and yes it could have been a
whole lot worse. I have to say though Will that
the Journals photograph of the helicopter in front of
the Cathedral isn't as good as yours! ;-)
