The water-table is very high here, & the trenches were filling with water.

No, that's inside the grounds of the Palace.

Yes, but everybody is waiting on English Heritage coming down & giving
the OK to take out the remains of a 19th. Century wall so further
excavation can take place down to the 13th. Century layer.
